False Eyelashes

False eyelashes can be a great alternative to the sometimes rather pricey “permanent” eyelash extensions, especially if you are wanting a different look solely for a special occasion. Ideally, they are meant to accentuate one’s eyes, either adding volume and extra length, or blending perfectly with the real lashes. Also referred to as “falsies,” false eyelashes come in various brands, sizes, shapes, and styles, giving you the option to go as natural, glamorous, or trendy as you wish. They are easy enough to apply yourself, but if you don’t feel comfortable, you can always turn to a trusted friend or professional. When purchasing, one may choose between lashes that come as a strip, or individual lashes. Many lashes that are a strip can be reused without any weakness of the hair. Before applying strip lashes, make sure they fit your eye shape. If not, go ahead and trim them. Also, it is highly recommended that you apply mascara to your own lashes as well prior to application. This allows you to blend with the falsies a little easier, and set them well. Whether you choose to apply the lashes yourself, or have someone else do it, these are the tools you will need and the step by step application process.
Average Cost of Service: $20-$50
Tools You Will Need:
-False Eyelashes $10-$35
-Tweezers $5
-Eyelash Adhesive $4-$16
Remove strip lashes from the box, and identify the left and right lashes by looking at how the lashes face outwards. If using
individual lashes, you will not need to do this.
Place a strip over your natural lashes to determine if you need to trim them. Always start trimming the outer edge first. Repeat with other strip.
Using a thin layer of adhesive, (Many prefer using a black adhesive glue, as this blends with your lash line a little better than the clear or white adhesive) dot from corner to corner along the line.
Allow the glue to go tacky a few seconds before application.
Begin pressing the strip along your natural lash line first to the center, then the outer corner, and inner.
Use a tweezers to press gently on the strip near your natural lash line and the falsies to ensure secure placement.
Repeat steps 3-6 with the remaining strip.
Step by Step Application Process for Falsies (Individual Lashes)
Remove lashes from the box.
Remove individual lash using a tweezers, starting with the longer lashes first, and apply a small amount of adhesive to the tip that will be applied to the lash line.
Allow adhesive to get tacky for a few seconds before application.
Apply first individual lash, starting on the outer corner of the eye.
Press false lash gently into the natural lash line, securing application.
Repeat steps 2-5, working your way to the inner corner of the eye.
You should end up applying the shorter false lashes in the inner corner.
Removing false eyelashes gently without damaging your own is a simple two step process. To soften the adhesive, grab a non oil-based eye makeup remover. Use a cotton pad or cotton swab soaked in makeup remover, and apply to your lash line. The false lash should easily slide off after a minute or so.
