How To Do Quick and Easy Updos
Updos are one of the more daunting hairstyling options for the average person, but they’re not always as complicated to execute as it might seem. The key is to choose an updo style that can be done with your own two hands, without a ton of effort involved. The following three looks are quick and easy enough to do anytime, anywhere with minimal prep. The only tools you’ll need are hair elastics, bobby pins, and maybe some texturizing spray.
Most people feel confident about putting their hair into a bun, whether it’s a bit messy or sleekly pulled back. The problem is that buns don’t always look as put together as one might hope. The key to making a bun look put together is to commit to a sleek spot like high on the head where it will be visible from the front. Elevating the high bun to next level is as simple as wrapping a portion of braided hair around the elastic. It’s simple as can be as looks put together in no time. It’s easiest if the braided portion comes from the underside of the head, so set that aside while you put the rest of the hair up. Then simply wrap the braid around the bun and secure it with a bobby pin.
Another spot on the head where a bun can look very put together is at the nape of the neck. In this area, it’s nice to have a looseness that feels a bit boho or dreamy. To accomplish a low bun that appears to be twisting into itself, set aside a few strands of hair from the ears to the nape of the neck. Then make a low, loose ponytail, wrap it into a bun, and secure with bobby pins. Next, you’ll take the strands you left loose and twist them around the bun to create texture. The end result looks a lot more complex than it is. If your hair is very thin and slips out of updos easily you might have some luck spraying on a texturizing or beachy hair spray to give it some natural hold.
When you want something that looks similar to a French roll updo, it’s certainly possible to create something yourself. For this look it’s a good idea to curl your hair first or to allow it air dry with any natural wave in it. Then you’ll section off the hair into three different sections, horizontally. Next you’ll start with one of those sections and split it into two more sections. Start twisting those section towards each other in a loose rolling fashion, and when you reach the ends of the hair just tuck them into place and pin them. Repeat this with the other two sections, rolling in the same direction. The end result looks like one long hair twist but with some fun flirty movement to it.
